Primed Cotton
Pre-primed cotton canvas provides an economic and convenient alternative for artists who choose not to prepare their own supports.
A primed surface gives a white base to paint on. The primer also controls the absorbency so that the paint can adhere to the surface permanently without drawing out too much of the oil. This is less of an issue with acrylic, but remains crucial when using oil paint.
