Grey powder used as an abrasive, but makes good
theatrical dust.
Powdered marble for adding tooth and body to oil
paint
Rabbit skin glue is a good quality hide glue used
for sizing. This product forms a traditional part of
recipes for preparing canvases for oil priming and
making gesso. As a binder for pigment it makes
distemper, often used as scenic paint.
Emulsion glaze is a water-based, non-toxic medium
that can be used to make paint from powdered
pigment, UV pigment and bronze powders. Made
from a polyvinyl acetate base, this glaze produces a
mat paint film when mixed with pigment. A dilute
solution of emulsion glaze can be used as a size to
seal porous surfaces, and it has excellent adhesive
properties when used at full strength.
China clay, or kaolin is a soft white clay that is an
essential ingredient in the manufacture of china and
porcelain and is widely used in the making of paper,
rubber, paint, and many other products.
Dental quality plaster for casting and other similar
applications.
